about

Supreme Court SUN HEX features members of two legendary Atlanta bands: the Hampton Grease Band (Glenn Phillips and bassist Mike Holbrook) and the Swimming Pool Q's (vocalists Jeff Calder and Anne Richmond Boston). Also included are bassist Bill Rea and drummer Bob Andre.

SUN HEX is an hour-long tour de force that features 10 new Calder/Phillips originals (including the 9 minute epic title cut) plus a 10 minute cover version of "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place."  Recorded and mixed on analog tape at the world-renowned Southern Tracks recording studio (Springsteen, Dylan, etc.), this is the long-awaited, 20 years in the making follow-up to Supreme Court's first album, which according to Rolling Stone's 4-star review, "welds deranged humor to a guitar that blows hot as an acetylene torch."

More about the band:

The band is an off-shoot of two legendary Atlanta bands, The Hampton Grease Band and The Swimming Pool Q's, and this is the followup to their first album, which received a 4-star review in Rolling Stone.

Jeff Calder (of the Swimming Pool Q's) mentioned that he'd spoken to you and that you'd requested a copy of the unreleased Supreme Court CD for your consideration. This new recording will be our 2nd album, and the first received a 4-star review in Rolling Stone. As Jeff mentioned, the group includes him, as well as myself on guitar.
My name is Glenn Phillips, and I've had 12 critically acclaimed albums
out under my name, including Echoes, a double-cd compilation that also received a 4-star review in Rolling Stone, and was released on Virgin (as were my first two solo albums). Prior to my solo career, I was a founding member of the legendary, cult-favorite Hampton Grease Band, whose double LP, Music to Eat, was reissued by Sony Music a few years back, and received a 9 out of 10 rating in Spin Magazine. I've also played on many other artists' recordings, from Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead to Pete Buck of REM, and my music has been played regularly over the last fifteen years on NPR. I've enclosed the Pool Q's press pack, as well as my own, which contains press on my solo releases, the Hampton Grease Band reissue, and the Supreme Court's first release.
